The strike of sanitation workers in Jaipur city, which has been going on for the last 4 days, has ended today. Due to the non-working of employees in half of Jaipur city for the last four days, garbage piled up on the streets at various places. Now it will take at least 2 to 3 days to clean them and get the system back on track.
Due to the strike of the employees in the Heritage Municipal Corporation area in Jaipur, the vehicles (hoppers) did not reach the houses for garbage collection. Due to this people were forced to throw garbage at the open depot on the roads. Door-to-door garbage collection company BVG is also responsible for lifting the garbage from these depots. Due to the strike of the employees in the company, garbage was not picked up even from the depot, so the garbage piled up everywhere in the city.
After the payment of Rs 3.50 crore received by the Municipal Corporation to BVG Company. The company paid one and a half months salary to its employees out of 3 months and assured to do the remaining salary by 10 October next month. After this, the employees today announced to end the strike and return to work. After the end of the employee strike, now the people of Jaipur city will get relief. From Sunday, Hoopers will start coming back to those areas of the city. Which have not been reached for the last 4 days.
The increase in garbage has meant a larger presence of dogs and cattle rummaging the dump. They drag the garbage to the road and make a mess of the entire street. The garbage emits a foul smell; mosquitoes, flies, and other insects breed on it.
