RJD-Congress Path Parted, Which Broke the Grand Alliance in Bihar

The alliance of RJD and Congress has broken this time in the by-elections. Under the electoral alliance in the 2020 assembly, RJD got the seat of Tarapur and the Congress of Kusheshwarsthan. Both the parties had lost the elections from both places. Now in the by-election, both the seats should have been divided accordingly, but RJD fielded candidates on both the seats. In return, Congress also gave candidates from both seats. There are two big reasons for this.

The government of the Grand Alliance was not formed

In the 2020 assembly elections, there was an alliance of Congress, RJD, and Left parties. It was named the Grand Alliance. After the election, RJD got 75 seats, Congress 19, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) 12, Communist Party of India, Marxist 2, and Communist Party of India 2 seats. In this way, the Grand Alliance won 110 seats. NDA won 125 seats and formed the government in Bihar.

When the Grand Alliance failed to form the government, the RJD understood, 70 seats were given to the Congress to contest but it could not win accordingly. Only 19 seats could be captured. This reduced the seats of the Grand Alliance. Had the Congress performed better, then the government of the Grand Alliance would have been formed in Bihar. Among those who made such an argument, there have been many leaders including senior RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari. Now when by-elections came to two seats in 2021 because the JDU MLAs here died from Corona, RJD refused to give the seat of Kusheshwarsthan to Congress, adding more seats and poor performance.

RJD did not like the inclusion of Kanhaiya Kumar in Congress

The reason for the breakup of the alliance is also believed to be the inclusion of Kanhaiya Kumar, the young leader of the Communist Party of India, in the Congress. Former Congress President and senior leader Anil Sharma also said that RJD is in trouble due to the inclusion of Kanhaiya Kumar in the Congress, at the reception organized at Congress office Sadaqat Ashram on Kanhaiya's arrival in Patna on Friday. Politically, Kanhaiya Kumar was the candidate of CPI from his home constituency Begusarai in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, but in that election, Giriraj Singh of BJP won the election by more than four lakh votes. There was RJD's Tanveer Hasan in third place.

When the time for the assembly elections came

Lalu Prasad had this big opportunity to stop the BJP, but Lalu Prasad made his candidate Tanveer Hasan. At that time Tejashwi Yadav had said that Kanhaiya Kumar is a leader of a particular caste and region. In the year 2020, when the time for the assembly elections came, at that time the CPI did not give Kanhaiya Kumar a better chance to campaign. Then there was a lot of discussion in the political circles that any leader parallel to Tejashwi Yadav should come in the election campaign, this is not acceptable to RJD. It came out from the inside than it was under the pressure of RJD that Kanhaiya Kumar was prevented from campaigning vigorously in Bihar.

Pappu Yadav was helping people during the Corona period

It also spread that Kanhaiya Kumar was hurt by this. Tejashwi Yadav did not tolerate even Upendra Kushwaha or Mukesh Sahni in the grand alliance. When Jaap supremo Pappu Yadav was helping people during the Corona period and sent him to jail in a case, neither Lalu Prasad nor Tejashwi Yadav took the side, Pappu Yadav. So on the contrary, a press conference was held against Pappu Yadav in the RJD office. In such a situation, when Congress included Kanhaiya Kumar in its party, So the RJD's eyebrows were raised.

The political compulsion of both RJD and Congress

The RJD fielded its candidates in the by-elections at both Tarapur and Kusheshwar places, regardless of Congress's 19 seats. Now the state in charge of Congress is saying that in the coming time. The Congress will fight the Lok Sabha elections on all the seats and the assembly elections also on all the seats. The political compulsion of both RJD and Congress is that they oppose each other. Only then both will be able to get votes.
