The exercise to elect a new Speaker of Bihar Legislative Assembly has begun. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nominated Vijay Sinha as the candidate, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is going to contest with their nomated Awadh Bihari Chaudhary. After churning late on Monday night, BJP selected the name of Vijay Sinha. Shortly after BJP’s announcement, RJD has also announced the name of Awadh Bihari Chaudhary. RJD is the largest party in the assembly in terms of seats. At present, RJD has 75 seats, BJP has 74 seats and JDU has 43 seats in the assembly.
Who is Avadh Bihari Chaudhary ?
Avadh Bihari Chaudhary coming from a backward caste is counted among the senior leaders of the RJD. This time he has become an MLA from Siwan Sadar seat for the sixth time. Earlier, Awadh Bihari Chaudhary had won the 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and February 2005 assembly elections. He has also been the Minister of Education in the Rabri Devi government.

Who is Vijay Sinha ?
Vijay Sinha was the Minister of Labor Resources in the previous government. He has been elected MLA from Lakhisarai for the third consecutive time. Apart from being a Khati activist of BJP, he is also close to former deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi. Prior to becoming a minister, he has held various positions in the organization from district to state in addition to the state spokesperson.
