In response to a strong letter from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar did a double retaliation.  First, he released a three-page letter on his Twitter account on the night of 23 April.  In this, out of a total of 22 points, he described Mamata's letter as factually incorrect and constitutionally debilitating as an initial response to the allegations.  He said, 'Your appeasement of the minority community was extremely open and inappropriate in the Nizamuddin Markaz incident.  This is very unfortunate and cannot be supported.  The Governor was referring to the event where Banerjee was asked to comment on the religious event of Tabligi Jamaat in the national capital.

On 24 April, Dhankhar sent his reply in 37 points to Mamta Banerjee  Later also confirmed sending the reply to his Twitter account.  In response, the Governor questioned the modalities of the state government in fighting clovid-19 and discussed its constitutional rights.  He accused Mamata Banerjee of failing to perform her duties as Chief Minister.

In the tweet, she wrote that 'I will give the initial answer to your charge at 11 am on the last day.  The people of the state cannot be left in their hands, who are also ready to compromise the Constitution.  There is no one more than the law 'People should know everything.  The Governor also reacted strongly to Chief Minister Mamata calling her only a nominated officer, saying that Ms. Banerjee is constantly insulting the basic spirit of the Constitution by ignoring her designation as Governor.  Governor said that in this hour of crisis, we should work together for the interests and welfare of the people of West Bengal, especially when we are facing an epidemic like covid 19.  Being the statutory head of state, I say it with full confidence that you have completely failed to deal with covid 19.
