Representative Harsh Wardhan, New Indian Ambassador Appointed to US

New Delhi: Harsh Wardhan, a 1984-batch Foreign Service diplomat will be the next Indian Ambassador to United State.

"He is expected to take up the assignment shortly," the Ministry of External Affairs in its statement today.

At present, Mr. Shringla is serving as the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh. Senior diplomat Riva Ganguly Das, presently Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, has been appointed as new High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

He will succeed Navtej Sarna, who will retire by the end of 2018, in Washington. In the course of a diplomatic career spanning 34 years, Shringla has held a variety of position in New Delhi and abroad.

The diplomat served at UNESCO in France, at the UN in New York, besides serving in various capacities in Vietnam, Israel, and South Africa.

He is graduated from St. Stephen's College in New Delhi, worked in the corporate and public sectors in India prior to joining the Indian Foreign Service.

Shringla speaks French, Vietnamese and Nepalese apart from English and India Languages.
