Janmashtami 2024: This year, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna will be celebrated over two days in Brajmandal. The grand festival of Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be observed on both August 26 and 27. The festival is expected to be celebrated on Monday, August 26, at Lord Krishna's birthplace.

Meanwhile, in Vrindavan, known as the place of Lord Krishna's divine pastimes, Janmashtami will be observed on Tuesday, August 27. As a result, preparations have already begun across Mathura and Vrindavan.

Krishna’s 5251st Birth Anniversary

According to Kapil Sharma, the secretary of Krishna's birthplace, this year marks the 5251st birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, so something special is expected.

The plan is to celebrate Janmashtami with great grandeur and divinity. As usual, Lord Krishna will offer darshan to devotees from the morning mangal aarti to the midnight birth abhishekam.

The main celebration of Janmashtami will take place at his birthplace in Mathura on August 26.

At midnight, a special Panchamrit abhishekam will be performed in the temple complex of Krishna's birthplace.

Special Aarti at Banke Bihari Temple

The world-renowned Banke Bihari Temple will celebrate the Shri Krishna Janmashtami festival on August 27. On this day, the temple will hold the special Mangala Aarti of Banke Bihari, which only takes place once a year.

On August 27, the temple will open as usual, and after the evening aarti, a special abhishekam will be performed at night. Following this, the Mangala Aarti of Lord Banke Bihari will take place.

This year, the administration has made arrangements for 600 people to attend this special aarti.

Mayank Vijay Goswami, the Sevayat priest of the Banke Bihari Temple, shared that Janmashtami will be celebrated on August 27 at the temple. On this day, Banke Bihari Ji will have his morning Shringar Aarti followed by the night’s Shayan Aarti.

After the regular darshan, at midnight, the Bal Maha Abhishek of Bihari Ji will take place, an event that occurs only once a year.

Following this abhishek, at 2 AM, darshan will open for the Mangala Aarti, where Bihari Ji will be adorned in a yellow Pitambari outfit.

Afterward, a special offering (bhog) is made to the deity, which includes a particular dish called "Panjiri" made with ghee, chironji, and dry fruits.
