Taking initiative to check air pollution in Delhi, Delhi Government on Monday launched the 'Red Light on Car Off' campaign in Delhi. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai launched the 'Red Light on Car Off' campaign from ITO Chowk on Monday. On this occasion, the Environment Minister presented a rose flower to the drivers and called upon the drivers to stop the vehicle at a red light.

Turn off the vehicle when the red line is on

During this, the Civil Defense Volunteer distributed pamphlets of 'Chief Minister's appeal to the people. In which the drivers were appealed to turn off the vehicle when the red line is on, reduce one trip a week and download the Green Delhi mobile app on their phones. On this occasion, Gopal Rai said that to reduce the vehicular pollution in the part of Delhi, the 'Red Light on Car Off' campaign has been started.

The solution to spraying the fields

As the incidents of stubble burning in other states are increasing, the pollution level of Delhi is increasing rapidly. The Delhi government took up the responsibility of preparing the solution to spraying the fields, if other state governments had taken up the responsibility, the stubble would not have been burnt.

Pollution from vehicles can be reduced by 20 percent

Gopal Rai said that according to the data of the Petroleum Conservation Research Association, if people successfully follow the Red Light on Car Off campaign, then vehicular pollution inside Delhi can be reduced by 13 to 20 percent. The vehicles which were running inside Delhi in the month of September are still running today. But the level of pollution was normal at that time. The pollution level is increasing in winter due to changing weather and stubble burning. As the incidents of stubble burning are increasing, the pollution level of Delhi is increasing rapidly. We cannot do anything in the stubble that is going on in other states.

Air pollution than last year

There is good news for the people of NCR that they will have to face less air pollution this time than last year. The reason for this is that according to the government data. There has been a significant reduction in the incidents of stubble burning in the neighboring states of Haryana, Punjab, UP. Apart from this, with the improvement in the air quality level of Delhi as compared to last year. Due to rains and the climate of Delhi may reach better condition.

The sky that looked black in October last year has now started showing its color due to good air quality and is clearer than before. Incidents of stubble burning in 8 NCR districts of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have come down significantly this year. As per the data, only 1795 fire incidents of stubble burning have been reported in the last month. While 4854 cases were registered during the same period during 2020.

Pollution is caused by toxic air and dust
