Recovery of Toll on National Highways will Start once on April 20

In a letter to the National Highways Authority of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that it is further stated that toll duty collection contributes to the government exchequer and also provides financial strength to NHAI for budgetary support.  NHAI should take necessary action to comply with the orders in view of the relaxation provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs for movement of all trucks and other goods or carrier vehicles to interstate and outlying states.  In view of this, recovery of toll will be resumed from April 20, 2020.

The toll collection on National Highways will start once April 20.  The central government has allowed the National Highways Authority of India to start collecting tolls on national highways from April 20. In a letter to the National Highways Authority of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs said that it is further stated that toll duty collection contributes to the government exchequer and also provides financial strength to NHAI for budgetary support.  NHAI should take necessary action to comply with the orders in view of the relaxation provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs for movement of all trucks and other goods or carrier vehicles to interstate and outlying states.  In view of this, recovery of toll will be resumed from April 20, 2020.

Meanwhile, the All India Motor Transport Congress has asked the central government to reconsider the decision to introduce toll collection (toll recovery). All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) President Kultaran Singh Atwal.  In a stern comment, the government should reconsider its decision before putting any financial burden on the sector, which is already locked under the economy  has fallen due to down.
