RBI Governor said that Outbreak of Covid-19 Epidemic is a Silent Killer

Coronavirus has shaken the health structure of the world, but due to the way the global economy is jammed, RBI Governor Dr. Shaktikanta Das has called it a silent killer. Also said that the outbreak of this epidemic can be very bad, so we have to try every method to stop it.  The central bank governor said this in the meeting of the committee MPC constituted to decide monetary policy.

It was also common opinion that the way the central government is going ahead and announcing the financial package, RBI should also make arrangements to strengthen the financial environment and supply sufficient funds in the system.  The details released on Monday also reveal that the central bank is recognizing that banks and financial institutions may face a lot of challenges regarding debt collection.  It is worth remembering that with this thinking, a three-month moratorium has been imposed on RBI for repayment of all term loans.

Five members of the MPC have said that due to this epidemic, the demand problem will be serious in the coming days.  Therefore, the most emphasis is needed to increase the demand.  It is worth mentioning that domestic demand is considered to be a major reason for the country's economic growth rate to decline in the last two financial years.  If the period of lockdown increases due to Kovid-19, then the situation may become more serious.
