Ranjan Gogoi Left Official Residence Before Deadline
Justice Ranjan Gogoi, who retired on November 17 as the Chief Justice of India, vacated his official home long before his one-month deadline. Justice Gogoi has left the bungalow found at 5 Krishna Menon Marg.
Gogoi is believed to have been the first Chief Justice to vacate his official residence three days after his retirement. Former Chief Justice JS Khehar also left the official residence a week after his retirement.
Justice Gogoi retired a few days after delivering the verdict of the historic Ayodhya temple-mosque case as part of a five-judge bench. Justice SA Bobde has taken over as the new Chief Justice of India. On his last working day, he sat in the number one court of the Supreme Court for a few minutes, during which he was thanked by the Supreme Court lawyers.
