Video journalist Baijnath Mahato, who was seriously injured, died in a deadly attack in Tiril Basti of Sadar police station area of Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The PCR team had admitted Baijnath to RIMS, but he could not get treatment there for several hours. When the hospital management came to know about him being a journalist, immediate treatment was started. Chief Minister Hemant Soren had strongly condemned the deadly attack on the video journalist and wished him a speedy recovery. He had said that the accused would not be spared under any circumstances. He had been directed to arrest the attacker soon. After this, the police arrested the accused.
According to the information, Baijnath Mahato had a fight with a young man in Tiril Basti who had tried to attack him with an ax. After which the police had pacified the dispute. Then he also complained about the incident to the Sadar police station. Baijnath Mahato was originally a resident of Tatisilwai but currently lived in a rented house in Kokar Tiril Basti.
He was on duty on Saturday night, but he did not return home late in the night, so his landlord called him at one o'clock in the night. During this, he told that he is in Bariatu and has called some friends to meet him. They will return home after meeting, but after few hours, they were found in a state of unconsciousness.
