Ramkrishna Dwivedi Passed Away, Dedicated whole Life to the Congress

On Friday, 87-year-old Ramkrishna Dwivedi, a veteran leader who fought for the Congress and Congressmen, succumbed at the Medanta Hospital in the capital.  Ramkrishna was expelled from the Congress for voicing his neglectful treatment of elderly Congressmen in the state.  Due to this, the health of the distressed Dwivedi started deteriorating.  Dwivedi had made a comeback in the Congress recently, but also very upset with his neglect.

Ramakrishna Dwivedi, who was the state Home Minister in Pandit Kamalapati Tripathi's government in Uttar Pradesh, was ill for a long time.  Ramakrishna Dwivedi, who was devoted to the Congress for his whole life, was mortal to him for the way he was suspended and humiliated in the evening of his life.  Ramkrishna was admitted to Medanta Hospital in this condition of illness.  Dwivedi was instrumental in other Congress organizations including NSUI and Youth Congress.  Pandit Ramakrishna Dwivedi, originally a resident of Bhandar village of Jungle Kauria, a development block in Gorakhpur, has also been a member of the Legislative Council twice.  Only seven of them have had a deep penetration in the Congress for a long time.

Let us tell you that previously a campaign was run, there were many big leaders like former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpai, Karpoori Thakur, Morarji Desai in that campaign.  Even after this, Ramakrishna Dwivedi defeated Chief Minister TN Singh in the by-election.  After this Dwivedi remained in great discussion.  Pandit Ramakrishna Dwivedi, known as a land leader for the public and Congress workers, became the Home Minister in the government of Pandit Kamalapati Tripathi of the state.  He was also very close to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The Congress expelled ten senior leaders of the party, including Pandit Ramakrishna Dwivedi, on charges of indiscipline.  When Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of the country, Ram Krishna Dwivedi was his favorite and most trusted confidant.  Senior Uttar Pradesh Congress leaders, who were expelled from the party, termed their expulsion as tragic and unfortunate, alleging that external elements inside the party were responsible for the development.  All the expelled leaders said that they are members of the All India Congress Committee and hence the Congress Committee cannot take any action against them.
