Rajasthan to Float Global Tender to Procure 1 Cr COVID-19 Vaccine Doses

The Rajasthan state cabinet on Wednesday gave the nod to float a global tender to purchase 1 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines. The state government has also issued orders to establish 105 oxygen plants in 62 places. According to the state government release, "During the Cabinet meeting, the Urban Development Department informed that it has issued orders to set up 105 oxygen plants in 62 urban areas."

Over 15,000 cases reported in Rajasthan:

On the other hand, states like Maharashtra and Uttarakhand are also working towards procuring COVID vaccines through Global channels. Rajasthan reported 15,867 new COVID-19 cases and 159 deaths in the last 24 hours, said the state health department on Thursday. The new cases pushed the case tally in the state to 8,21,525.

As many as 6,03,319 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far. Meanwhile, the active number of COVID cases in Rajasthan stands at 2,11,889. With the new fatalities, the COVID death toll in Rajasthan mounted to 6,317.

More than 3.43 lakh cases reported in India:

India reported 3,43,144 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 2,40,46,809, the Union Health Ministry reported on Friday. With 4,000 people succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, the death toll has mounted to 2,62,317. Currently, there are 37,04,893 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The country also witnessed as many as 3,44,776 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,00,79,599. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), as many as 31,13,24,100 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to May 13. Of these 18,75,515 samples were tested on Thursday. The total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered stand at over 17,92,98,584 crore, informed the health ministry.
