Rajasthan: Sarpanch Election in 48 Gram Panchayats of 22 Districts

A total of 130 candidates are left in the fray for the by-elections for the post of sarpanch in 48-gram panchayats of 22 districts of Rajasthan. Chief Electoral Officer Chitra Gupta said on Tuesday that out of a total of 48-gram panchayats, no nomination papers were filed in 8-gram panchayats while candidates for 6-gram panchayats were elected unopposed. In this way, 130 candidates are left in the fray in the remaining 34-gram panchayats.

Chief Electoral Officer Chitra Gupta said that allotment of election symbols has been done for the candidates. Voting will be held on July 25 from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. The counting of votes will take place immediately after the end of polling. He has appealed to the voters to vote by following the Corona protocol.

Let us tell you that a local court in Rajasthan has sent BJP MLA Amrit Lal Meena to jail for presenting a fake mark sheet of his wife in the election of Sarpanch. Sarada Deputy Superintendent of Police DS Chundawat said the MLA surrendered in the court of Sarda on Monday.

His interim bail plea was rejected and he was sent to jail till 23 July. According to officials, the MLA is alleged to have presented a fake mark sheet of his wife in the 2015 sarpanch election. Meena is presently an MLA from Salumbar Vidhan Sabha of Udaipur district.

According to officials, Meena had signed the documents of his wife as a guardian in the election of the post of Sarpanch in Semdi Gram Panchayat. This alleged fake mark sheet was of class 5. A charge sheet has been presented against Shantadevi in ​​this case.

Chundawat said Meena's interim bail plea was rejected in the high court. Thereafter, Meena filed a special leave petition in the Supreme Court. The court had asked Meena to surrender before the court in Sarda within three weeks.
