Rajasthan: Cow Dung and Multani Mitti’s Diyas are being made in Bhilwara

The people of Gaushala told that the purpose of making dung diyas was to connect the people with the traditional culture.

With the arrival of Diwali, the demand for earthen lamps has increased in the market. Meanwhile, a cowshed located in Kotri town of Bhilwara has done a unique experiment with the diyas.

Beautiful diyas have been made from cow dung and multani mitti. This first experiment done in Gaushala is luring people in 3 states. So far, orders for about 5 lakh diyas from Rajasthan, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have been received by Goshala for this work started in the month of September.

The Gaushala management is also very happy about this unique experiment. Because with this use of them, people are again inclining towards their traditional diyas, due to which the people of the village are also getting employment.

Go Sevaks Bhanwarlal and Gopal Prajapat told that the construction work of different types of lamps was started from the month of September. The lamps are being made from a mixture of cow dung and multani mitti. To make these diyas, a machine was bought from Gujarat.

Earlier, only one machine was working. At present four machines and 6 cow sevaks were making 2500 lamps per day as the demand increased. Religious symbols like Ganesh, Auspicious Benefit, Lakshmi, Sun God etc. are also being made.

The purest cow dung is considered

The people of Gaushala told that cow dung is considered the purest in our culture. Dung is always used before performing any sacred work. Due to this, the cow dung tried to make Diwali diyas from cow dung. The very first attempt was very successful. People will revive their traditions through this diya.

The people of Gaushala told that the purpose of making dung diyas was to connect the people with the traditional culture. They have got good results with these diyas. People are also inclined towards it.

They had considered the target of 50 thousand diyas this Diwali, but so far they got orders for 5 lakh diyas. These diyas will be supplied to Ahmedabad, Surat, Anand, Baroda, Ghorasar in Gujarat and Ujjain, Agra, Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, Bhilwara, Dungarpur, Sagwara, Pratapgarh, Udaipur, Beawar, Vijay Nagar, Kota, Bara and Ajmer districts of Rajasthan.
