Banned in cricket betting but wherever got a clean chit

A common man's life gets ruined in a single legal case. He has to suffer a great loss both financially and mentally. But, Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra has a different story. Even after being implicated in many cases ranging from allegations of underworld connection to cricket betting, Raj sometimes gets relief from the stay of the court, and sometimes the police himself gives clean chit.

Raj's name came up in so many cases, yet he got away every time. In the words of Shilpa Shetty, Raj's luck has been 'Super Se Bhi Upar'. Despite having an estimated net worth of 4000 crores, Raj started the business of porn films. Perhaps, they will have faith in their super luck.

Raj's defense in Iqbal Mirchi case

What was the issue– ED was investigating the cases of illegal properties of gangster Iqbal Mirchi. In the meantime, Ranjit Singh Bindra, who did the deal on behalf of Mirchi, came to know about it. Bindra got arrested. It is learned that there has been some transaction between Raj and Bindra as well. Raj had sold his property to Bindra's relative Dheeraj Wadhawan. Raj and Bindra also became partners in Bestin's restaurant. In this case, in October-November 2019, the ED questioned Raj Kundra for 10 hours.

What Raj said in defense– Raj Kundra had issued a statement stating that he had sold the property to Dheeraj Wadhawan of RKW Developers and it was a deal verified by CA. Raj had admitted that he had a 50% partnership with Bindra in Bestin' Restaurant. But, Raj's argument was that he did not know what links Bindra has with anyone else. Regarding the loan given by Bindra's company to Raj and Shilpa's company Essential Hospitality, Raj had defended that they have sold the company with zero debt. After this, they do not know whether the new owners have taken any loan or not.

The 'Bestin' restaurant in Bandra is popular among Bollywood celebrities. Last year, Shilpa started the second branch of this restaurant in Worli, Mumbai.

Clean chit in 2000 crore bitcoin case

What was the case– In 2018, the case of 2000 crore bitcoin case came to the fore. Amit Bhardwaj and Vivek Bhardwaj, both brothers took money from 8000 people in the country and promised to get the bitcoins. A case was registered against both of them at Dattawadi and Nigdi police stations in Pune. Raj Kundra's name came up during the interrogation of Amit Bhardwaj. Raj was questioned by the ED in this case. Apart from Raj, Amit Bhardwaj also named actresses Sunny Leone, Prachi Desai, Aarti Chhabria, Zareen Khan, Neha Dhupia, and Huma Qureshi.

What happened in the case– Pune Police did not get any concrete evidence against Raj in this case. Due to this, Raj got a clean chit.

Only cricket activity banned in IPL betting

What was the matter– Raj and Shilpa had invested in the Rajasthan Royals team in IPL. In 2013, it was alleged that Raj had participated in betting through the co-owner of the team, Umesh Goenka. Raj had agreed to bet during the interrogation of Delhi Police. However, he had said that he was not involved in fixing it.

What happened in the case – Rajasthan Royals team was thrown out of IPL for two years. Raj was banned from participating in any cricket-related activity. In 2018, Raj had filed an RTI with the Delhi Police regarding this case. In response to this RTI, it was told that there is no evidence against Raj and he has got a clean chit. After this, Raj filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding the removal of the cricket ban imposed on him.

Got stay in a cheating case

What was the case– In 2017, a case of cheating of 24 lakhs was registered against Raj Kundra at Kongaon police station in Thane. Raj and Shilpa were running a teleshopping company named Best Deal TV. Bedsheets were purchased for this company. Ravi Bhalotia of a textile firm in Bhiwandi had alleged that the company had not paid him Rs 24 lakh in lieu of bedsheets.

What happened in the case– Inspector Rajendra Pawar of Kongaon police station told that Raj Kundra has taken a stay from the High Court in this matter. We have recorded the statement of Ravi Mohan Bhalotia in the investigation so far. Raj was also summoned, but he did not appear. Now there is a stay of the High Court, so whatever order will be received from the court in the future, action will be taken accordingly.

Clean chit in case of gold scheme

What was the matter– Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty started a gold trading company named Satyug Gold Pvt Ltd. Sachin Joshi had alleged that he had invested in the gold card scheme of this company in March 2014. He was promised one kilogram of gold five years later in 2019 for an investment of 18 lakhs. According to the claim of Sachin Joshi, he tried again and again but he did not get the gold. On the other hand, the company had imposed a penalty of lakhs on Sachin in the name of a storage charge of five thousand rupees per day due to the non-collection of gold on time.

What happened in the case– Gajanan Kabdulla, Senior Police Inspector of Khar Police Station told that there was no FIR against Raj Kundra. Sachin Joshi had given only one complaint. The matter was investigated and no evidence was found against Raj. That's why he has been given a clean chit. In this case, there was a statement from Shilpa Shetty that the company has handed over one kilogram of gold in the custody of the court. Now the arbitrator will decide on that.

Hit and Run of the car sold

What was the matter – In February this year, a hit and run case happened in Bangalore. Several vehicles were crushed by an Audi car. No one was killed in this, but the driver was injured and there was a lot of damage to the vehicles. When the police investigated with the RTO, it was found that this car was in the name of Raj Kundra.

What did Raj say in defense – Raj told that he had already sold this car two months ago. His papers have not been transferred. Later the police came to know about the car dealer Mohammad Shadab who was driving the car at the time of the accident.
