Rahul Ramakrishna in an American Thriller

Tollywood actor and popular comedian Rahul Ramakrishna are all set to make his debut in an American TV series. The Arjun Reddy fame actor took to social media on Thursday to officially announce the news. The actor will be part of a crime thriller series titled Silk Road directed by Pradeep Katasani, who had earlier worked on the Shabana Azmi starrer The Black Prince and the US TV show Ray Donovan.

Silk Road is based on a novel by E Mapache published last year under the same title. It traces the life of an international graduate student from India struggling to make ends meet in the US, who takes to the dark web to sell high-grade LSD that he accidentally gets hold of.

Rahul Ramakrishna and Priyadarshi Pullikonda's dark comedy Mithai, which has been awaiting release for a while now, is scheduled to arrive in theatres on February 21.

Along with Rahul, the cast of the six-episode series includes Rakesh Galebhe, who has worked in several Telugu indie films, Rajiv Khilnani, and Mathew Fuentes.

While these two actors who've managed not to go typecast are continuing to make strides, there's more news on Rahul Ramakrishna's front.

The actor whose recent film Husharu completed 50 days in theatres, is now acting in an American film titled Silk Road, directed by Pradeep Katasani.

Rahul revealed this recently on his social media accounts, sharing an official poster of the film and stating that it's his humble entry into Hollywood.

Silk Road is an adaptation of a 2018 novel of the same name written by E Mapache and credits Pradeep Katasani for its story. The makers initially intended Silk Road to be a series but later felt it would lend itself to a feature film.

The thriller traces the journey of an Indian student who struggles to make ends meet in the US and chances upon high-end LSD that's worth millions of dollars. He hopes to sell it through the dark web but soon, a Drug Enforcement Administration special agent is hot on his trail.

Pradeep Katasani has worked as a production manager, editor, writer and casting director before producing and directing shorts and independent films; he is based in Los Angeles.
