In view of ever-increasing cases of coronavirus and recent situation, former world No 1 tennis player Rafael Nadal has decided to rule out of US Open. The Grand Slam tournament is scheduled to be held from 31 August to 13 September.
Nadal announced his withdrawal from tournament through tweet:
On Tuesday, Nadal announced his withdrawal from the prestigious tennis. On Twitter, he wrote, ‘After many thoughts, I have decided not to play this year’s US Open. The situation is very complicated worldwide, the COVID-19 cases are increasing, it looks like we still don’t have control of it.’ Nadal said that it was very difficult for him to take this decision but the current situation forced him to do so.
Andy Murray’s participation in doubt too:
A few days ago, Andy Murray of Britain also hinted that he had not yet decided whether to play in the US Open or not. He had told that he is preparing himself mentally for this.
Western and Southern Open will take place from August 20:
The Western and Southern Open is also scheduled to be held in the US from August 20 to 28 before the US Open. Organizers say that we will also make this tournament a success. At the same time, Japan’s world number-10 Naomi Osaka and world number-9 American player Serena Williams are ready to play in the US Open.
