The first in-person meeting of the Heads of State (QUAD) of India, the US, Japan, and Australia took place at the White House on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Biden for convening the first in-person meeting of the Quad. He said that our vaccine initiative will be of helping greatly to the Indo-Pacific countries.

India raised the issue of terrorism

According to Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, India raised the issue of Pakistan's role in Afghanistan and its involvement in terrorism in the Quad meet. Along with India, the US also emphasized this, as both countries understand the importance of tackling terrorism in Afghanistan. Shringla said there was a clear feeling in the bilateral discussions and at the Quad summit that Pakistan's role in Afghanistan and terrorism should be viewed more carefully. Pakistan, which claims itself to be an ally in the neighboring areas, is actually the cause of the problems.

PM Modi said that the Quad will act as a 'Force for Global Good'. I am confident that our cooperation in the QUAD meeting will ensure peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific as well as in the whole world. The Quad Vaccine Initiative will be helping Indo-Pacific countries. Quad is working together on a range of issues such as supply chain, global security, climate change, and the corona pandemic. Four Quad countries have met for the first time since the 2004 tsunami to help the Indo-Pacific region. Today as the world struggles with the corona epidemic, we are reunited with humanity.

What did Biden say?

I welcome PM Morrison, Modi, and Suga to the first in-person quad meeting at the White House. It is a group of democratic countries with common interests. Four countries are currently facing similar challenges. We believe in a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Our plan for the vaccination initiative is on track. We will soon be producing 1 billion doses in India to improve global supply. Biden announces New Quad Fellowship. It will be available for students from India, Australia, and Japan.

What did Japanese PM Suga say?

For the first time, four countries have come together for the in-person Quad Leaders Summit. Also, this summit reflects our shared ties and our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Suga told Biden that the US had imposed a ban on Japanese food products, which was lifted after a request in April. This is a good step, thanks for taking it.

Also, Morrison said that the Quad Group proves how well democracy can work together. No part of the world is currently more dynamic than the Indo-Pacific.

All countries are troubled by China's policies

Not only India but the other three countries of the Quad are also concerned about China's policies. That is why the US and Australia last week signed a Security Agreement (AUKUS) to control China in the Indo-Pacific region. Although India and Japan are not included in this, Australia and Britain have partnered with the US. Nevertheless, it is also very important for India and Japan, as all these countries want to rein in China's increasing interference in the Indo-Pacific region.
