PUBG Mobile New updates Zombie, Vikendi Moonlight modes

The zombie mode has been one of the most anticipated features of PUBG MOBILE since Tencent games announced their collaboration with RE Games a couple of months ago.

For all those who love shooting zombies in their pastime, the announcement of the zombie mode marries the unabashed joy of carelessly shooting zombies with the widely acclaimed class-leading gameplay physics of PUBG MOBILE.

After a long wait, PUBG MOBILE is finally getting the zombie update, starting February 19 as Tencent has already put the servers on maintenance. The PC version got access to a slightly different version of zombie mode, which was less of horrifying and cutesier in its approach. However, that's not the case with the mobile game.

The zombie mode came to PUBG MOBILE's beta version almost a month ago and since then has given eager players a taste of what they could expect in the upcoming update to the stable version. The zombie mode on PUBG MOBILE is comparatively more savage and terrifying than the PC version.

The new updated version of the battle royale game will be pushed to Google Play Store and Apple App Store from February 19. So, you will be able to check out the new modes from tomorrow.

And snatching a Chicken Dinner isn't as easy as you think, even if you are an expert player. Wonder why? I tried my hands at the zombie mode in the beta version and here's how it fared up.

When we first stepped into the zombie-infested version of Erangel. As soon as you land, you have to dash for the loot as zombies come for the hunt almost immediately. However, you will initially have to face maybe one or two zombies at a time, unless your area falls into the "zombie boss attack area." Similar to the Red Zone in classic matches, the zombie mode spawns a plethora of horrifying zombies at a spot. And the only way you can evade them is by shooting them to smithereens.

Spend a few more minutes and you will notice a timer running under the map. As soon as it reaches zero, you will start to see the world getting dark and misty. And this is when the adrenaline kicks in as you see an army of zombies dashing towards you to kill you. And it's not like they are crawling or standing at a point – these zombies do run fast. And they attack with a weird slimy green stuff, similar to throwing a Molotov cocktail.

The leaner ones are easy to kill though – it's the boss zombies that require you to devise strategies on-spot. And if you have played Resident Evil games in the past, the zombies will be familiar to you. The big fat bosses are slow but they require a lot of blow to kill them. And once the mini-army is killed, the blue zone starts closing and another "boss area" pops up in another part of the map.

Then there are the zombies themselves. It's surprising to see a mobile game render characters in such high-resolution textures. The zombies look extremely terrifying. However, never do they look nasty, even when you are killing them. The graphic designers have maintained the perfect balance between offering horrifying yet acceptable levels of the zombie shooting experience.

However, zombies aren't solely responsible for distracting you from the Chicken Dinner. The Zombie mode brings in spectacular graphical effects.

The zombie mode is possibly the best thing that has happened to PUBG MOBILE since the Sanhok map was rolled out. It breathes in a new lease of life to the game that was getting stale in terms of content. It's sad that the zombie mode is a limited period event and it won't stay permanently on PUBG. Hence, till the time the zombie mode is here, just go ahead and gear up with your squad to go zombie hunting in PUBG MOBILE. I assure you that it's extremely addictive.
