Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi has targeted the UP government regarding this matter. She tweeted, "Seeing his sugarcane crop drying up in the field and not getting the slip, a sugarcane farmer of Muzaffarnagar committed suicide. The BJP claimed that full payment would be given in 14 days, but the sugar mills have been closed, I warned the government about this 2 days ago. Imagine what would have been happening to the farmers families who were not paid during this financial crisis, but the BJP government does not even take the name of sugarcane payment in 14 days."
