Positive News: 3 Friends from Rajasthan and Gujarat are Delivering Farmers’ Products Door-to-Door

The demand for organic products has increased in the last few years. People are including such products in their daily life. However, the biggest problem is regarding their availability. Most people can neither reach the farmers directly nor can farmers reach their products to the people. The problem is even bigger in big cities.

The products of farmers

To overcome this problem, three youths from Rajasthan and Gujarat have taken an initiative. Together, all three have been marketing the products of farmers and local artisans across the country for the last 4 years. More than 50 farmers are associated with him. Last year the turnover of his company was Rs 1.25 crore. 38 years old Rajan Patel is an MBA graduate. He belongs to Ahmedabad, Gujarat. While 26-year-old Yash Mehta and his classmate Raj Jain have studied CA.

Rajan Patel belongs to a normal family. Already he had an interest in business, but he had to do a job after doing MBA due to financial reasons. After working for three years, in 2008, he started the business of exotic juices. However, after a few years, he had to leave this business. After that, he started working again. Till 2015 he worked in different companies.

Demand for organic products increased, but availability is still low

Rajan tells that everything was going well during the job. Growth was also happening, but I wanted to do something of my own. Then people were turning towards organic products, but the availability in the market was less. I felt that if the marketing is done by buying the product directly from the farmers, then the response will be good. Understood the cost of their product and assured to give the best price from the market.

On this, some farmers agreed to work with us. After this Rajan left the job. He launched his e-commerce platform named greenobazaar.com. Listing farmers' products on their website. After that focused on marketing. Slowly they started getting orders. Regarding the initial budget, Rajan says that we outsourced the marketing team. Along with this, about 18 lakh rupees were spent in designing the website, certification of the product, and company registration.

Three years later, two new friends were found

Rajan says that from day one I am targeting people from all over India. So the cost was a bit high, but I started getting returns back just as quickly. I started getting orders from all over the country. Along with this, I started marketing offline in Ahmedabad as well. There was not much earning, but the pace of business was good. That's why I kept investing. Meanwhile, Rajan met Yash Mehta and Raj Jain. Yash and Raj were also working on a similar model farm.

The two shared their idea with Rajan and agreed to work together. That is, Rajan got two more companions. From the year 2020, the three started working together. After that, the pace of business increased. However, then Corona came and the lockdown took place. The work was definitely affected for a few days, but later it also got its benefit. Most people shifted towards online marketing. This increased the number of Rajan's customers.

How do you work? What is Business Model?

Rajan says that instead of making the product ourselves, we buy it from the farmers. We have connected more than 50 farmers from different states with us. All these farmers do organic farming. Along with this, we have also tied up with local artisans making handicrafts. Similarly, those who manufacture soaps, shampoos, creams, and organic cosmetic products are also associated with us. All of them send their products to us through transport. We make them pay for it. After this, our team brings him to his unit.

After that category-wise, we upload it on our e-commerce platform. After this, as the orders of the customers come in, we keep on delivering them. For this, we have tied up with some logistics companies. They do the work of delivery of our products across the country. At present we have more than 2 thousand products. That is, all the products we need in routine life are available on our platform. A team of 15 people is currently working with Rajan.
