Recently filmmaker Leena Manimekalai shared a poster of her film on social media. In the poster, an actress, dressed in the costume of Durga(Goddess Kali) was seen smoking a cigarette in the poster. Mahua, while responding to the controversy at India Today Conclave supported the idea of offering liberty to imagine one’s deity in their own way and said, “Kaali to me, is a meat-eating, alcohol-accepting goddess. You have the freedom to imagine your goddess.

The TMC MP, known for her fiercely style of speaking further added that there are some places where people offer whiskey to Goddess Kaali whereas it would fall under the category of blasphemy in other places.
