Putting a brake on the speculation over the candidate for Presidential Elections, NDA on Tuesday announced Draupadi Murmu as their representative. Draupadi, who’d served as Governor for Jharkhand belongs to the tribal community Santhal and might become the first Tribal person to represent India as President, if elected.
Draupadi Murmu - Journey So far
Born on June 20, 1958, Draupadi faced a lot of challenges throughout her life. She was married to Shyam Charan Murmu and had two sons and one daughter, however, she lost both her husband and sons. Murmu, however decided to combat the situation and completed her graduation in Arts Ramadevi Girls College, Bhubaneshwar. Post to this, Draupadi worked as a Junior Assistant at Irrigation and Power Department. She also worked as an Honorary Assistant Teacher at Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre, Bhubaneshwar.
Governor Of Jharkhand
Draupadi was elected as Governor for the state of Jharkhand in 18 May 2015 and completed her term on 12 July 2021. Murmu was the first woman Governor of Jharkhand then.
Mumma was in tears Draupadi’s only daughter Itishree Murmu while reacting to the news of her Mother getting selected as President Candidate for NDA said,” Mumma was in tears when she heard the news, she got so emotional that she was not even able to Thank PM for this opportunity.
Will Draupadi be the Next President of India?
For sure Draupadi would be making her way to become the first President of the Tribal Community. BJP had been in talks with several parties and managed to gather support from BJD(Biju Janta Dal) and thus the Vote Count required for the majority has been clearly covered by NDA, thus in normal circumstances, Draupadi would be enjoying a clear majority in the elections.
