China, which has accused the US of interfering in internal affairs regarding Tibet, can now pass another step of heading the exiled government of Tibet. Dr. Lobsang Sangay, the head of Tibet’s exiled government, reached the White House at the invitation of the US. During this time he met a newly appointed American official for Tibet affairs. This is the first time in 6 decades that the CTA chief was invited to the White House.
Dr. Lobsang Sangay’s tweet
On this meeting, Sangay tweeted, “It is a great honor to be the first political head of the Central Tibetan Administration to formally enter the White House.” An official statement was issued by the CTA regarding his visit.

The statement stated that the visit of Dr. Lobsang Sangaye would give importance to both the CTA’s democratic system and its political chief. This meeting was unprecedented. This would create an optimistic atmosphere regarding the CTA’s involvement with US officials.
China is already angry with this decision of America…
This move by Tibet may further offend China. In fact, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo appointed senior diplomat Destro on October 15 as Special Coordinator for Tibet Affairs. China is already angry with this decision of America and has accused the US of interfering in China’s internal affairs. Now going to the White House of the head of Tibet’s exiled government may further annoy China.
Earlier, on the question regarding the meeting of these two, the Chinese Foreign Ministry had said that Tibet is the internal issue of China, no outsider should interfere on this. China also accused America of trying to create instability in China over the appointment of Destro.
