Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first Global Investor Conference of Himachal Pradesh today at Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. The Global Investor Conference is being organized in Himachal Pradesh on 7-8 November. Prominent industry leaders and foreign investors, including Union Ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Prahlad Patel and Anurag Thakur, will participate in the two-day conference.

Himachal Pradesh Global Investor Conference will showcase investment opportunities in eight major sectors. These are eight sectors – Agriculture, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, tourism, hotels, civil aviation, hydropower and renewable energy. The conference will be attended by diplomats, corporate sector, senior policy makers, development agencies and investors from all over the world. According to the Ministry of Commerce, Himachal Pradesh has implemented online single window system.

Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has called this conference as 'Rising Himachal', which is going to be held in Dharamshala on November 7-8, is aimed at agribusiness, food processing and post harvest technology, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, tourism, hospitality, civil aviation, hydropower and to attract investment in various sectors including renewable energy. The state has set a target of attracting investment of Rs 85,000 crore and so far a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for investment of Rs 83,000 crore has been signed. Thakur said, "We will introduce a progressive policy for speedy approval of the project, development of infrastructure, sustainable investment in human capital and social welfare." The first Global Investor Conference is expected to fulfill the goal of creating employment opportunities and encouraging entrepreneurship. The state's economic growth rate is expected to be 7.3 percent in the current financial year.
