Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the second session of the G20 summit today. This session will be based on the topic of climate change and the environment. With this summit, PM Narendra Modi's two-day Rome tour will end. They will leave for Glasgow, UK. The 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is scheduled to begin here from October 31.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the first session of the G20 summit on Saturday. The Iran nuclear deal was also discussed in the meeting. The leaders of the G-20 countries decided in the meeting that efforts would be made to reduce the global temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius. US President Joe Biden, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron. UK PM Boris Johnson and many global leaders were present in the meeting.
PM Modi promised the leaders of G20 countries that India will make 5 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine by the end of next year. These doses of vaccine will not be only for Indians but they will be given to the whole world. During this, world leaders agreed to increase vaccine production for poor countries.
However, PM Modi sought help from the G20 countries in getting approval from the WHO for emergency use of the Indian Covid-19 vaccine, Covaxin. This vaccine has been manufactured by the Indian company Bharat Biotech. Modi said that after getting approval from the World Health Organization (WHO). It will be easier for New Delhi to achieve the target of making 5 billion vaccines.
Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who was present with PM Modi, said that the Prime Minister told the leaders of G20 countries about India's medical supplies. The PM said that since the beginning of the Covid-10 epidemic, India has given medical supplies to 150 countries. Shringla said that the Prime Minister also informed about the success of his government in giving the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to one billion people in India.
Before the summit, Modi reached Vatican City and met Pope Francis, the biggest cleric of Catholic Christians, and Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin. This was Modi's first meeting with Pope Francis. However, this meeting was not part of the Prime Minister's official schedule, as the Ministry of External Affairs had not given any information about it. PM Modi also invited Pope Francis to visit India. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla told that Pope Francis has accepted PM Modi's invitation and he will visit India soon.
