Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 'Defense Expo 2020' at 1.30 pm on Wednesday in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It will be the biggest defense products exhibition in Asia. In this conference of defense equipment traders, 1028 companies from over 70 countries will showcase their products and technologies. These include 856 Indian and 172 foreign companies. During the Defense Expo, more than 200 MoUs related to defense deals will be signed. Defense ministers of 39 countries will also participate in this four-day event.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh gave information about the Defense Expo on Tuesday. He said, 'A country like India cannot depend on imported defense equipment and weapons for long. We are preparing India as a defense manufacturing hub. Defense Expo is the best platform for this. The Defense Expo will play a decisive role in making India self-reliant in the defense sector by ending dependence on imports.'
The Defense Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a goal of making India a five trillion dollar economy by 2024, the event will also play an important role in realizing it. India is currently the sixth-largest economy in the world. By the end of this decade, it will be among the top three economies in the world. This the eleventh edition of Defense Expo was described by Rajnath as the grandest show ever and he praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for freeing the ground for its successful event.
Rajnath Singh said that this event will be successful in taking the relations between India and the world to new heights and his parliamentary constituency Lucknow will be a witness to India's relations with the world. The UP pavilion made at the Defense Expo will be effective in attracting investment in UP. Defense Expo will also create huge employment opportunities for the youth of UP.
