PM Modi Talked to CM Sonowal on Fire Accident in Assam Gas Well, Promised to Help

The state has suffered major losses due to a fire in the gas well of Oil India Limited, located in Baghjan in Tinsukia district of Assam. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal regarding the accident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promised to provide all possible help to the Chief Minister from the Center. Prime Minister Narendra Modi aslo said that the central government is closely monitoring the entire incident.

At the same time, CM Sonowal said after talking to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that PM Modi has given details about the accident. He has promised to provide all possible help and resolve the issue. All possible help will be given to the victims. Efforts to control the fire in the oil field are continuing and many experts along with Oil India Limited, ONGC are engaged in fire control. It is feared that it may take about 4 weeks to completely control the fire, with this, the surrounding area is being evacuated.

It is noteworthy that two firemen lost their lives while extinguishing the fire in the Baghajan Oil India Limited gas well. NDRF recovered the bodies of two firemen missing from the spot and a soldier deployed in the rescue operation is still missing. This fire was so fierce that 15 fire tenders reached the spot to extinguish it. In the operation, the workers of Oil India Limited, ONGC, Indian Air Force, and District Administration had to come down, whereas the rescue operation is still going on.

Gas was continuously coming out from the oil well of Baghajan and on Tuesday, sudden flames were seen in the well. As the flames intensified, the administration already evacuated about 1610 families in view of security. At least 30 houses have been burnt in the accident and the damage caused by the fire is being reviewed.
