PM Modi Held a Meeting with SAI over Tokyo Olympics Preparations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a meeting with Sports Authority of India (SAI) officials last month regarding preparations for the Olympics to be held in Tokyo next year and the information about that meeting was released on Monday. Modi held this meeting at his residence. The meeting was attended by the Sports Secretary, Director General of SAI and CEO of Target Olympic Podium (TOPS). During this period, several schemes were discussed, in which there was a discussion about the addition of the corporate sector in sports.

A number of schemes were discussed in the meeting including 'one state one game system'. It was decided in the meeting that 'one state one game system' will be monitored by the states and work on its modalities will also be done. The aim will be to make a state skilled in a sport in which it has special abilities and then work in the same direction to win a medal in the Olympics. Children from other states wishing to compete in that sport can also be sent to this particular state. For this, the Sports Ministry can check the record of the performance of players and medals received by each state in the last 20 years.

Apart from this, the Guru-disciple tradition was also talked about in the meeting. The Sports Ministry will create a website in which coaches can register themselves as a guru and can also provide information about their disciples. Along with this, it was also talked about preparing a database of global players of Indian origin within two months.
