Simona Halep of Miami lots her semifinal match to reach in the final against Carolina Pliskova in Miami Open.

Simona is currently on the third position in the ranking of the top players. The current no. 1 player in the world already lost her match and place in the Miami Finals. In this condition, she wants to manage herself to win the title but this could not happen.

Halep has won only one Grand Slam (French Open) title in her career so far. Halep played a good game in the first set, but she missed out due to a mistake in the last minute. In the second set, Pliskova looked at the strong form and made a 5-0 lead.

After this, Halep could not make a comeback. Pliskova won nine games directly in this match. She was lagging 5-3 in the first set but managed to make a comeback. In the semis, Pliskova will face Australia's, Ashleigh Barty.

Czech Republic's Carolina Pliskova defeated Romania's Simona Halep in the semi-finals of the Miami Open WTA. Ranked seventh in the world ranking, Pliskova made the title 7-5, 6-1. With this defeat, Halep's dream of returning to the top in the rankings also broke.

After being out of Japan's Naomi Osaka and Petra Kvitova tournaments, Halep had the chance to return to number one ranking by winning this match. In the title match, Pliskova will be equally from Australia's Ashleigh Barty. Barty beat Estonian Anett Kontaveit.6-3, 6-3 in the second semifinal.

The South Florida weather played havoc with Thursday's schedule at Hard Rock Stadium, no more so than when the rains returned with Pliskova on the brink of a brilliant win.

The play was initially halted at 3-3 in the first.

When they resumed, Halep edged ahead 5-3 before Pliskova roared back, taking the first set and a 5-0 lead in the second before rain forced them from the court again.

Halep, who recovered from 1-5 down in the second set in her quarter-final match against Wang Qiang, held serve upon the restart. But in the very next game, Pliskova served out to ruin Halep's hope of reclaiming the number one ranking she lost when Japan's Osaka won the Australian Open earlier this year.
