PK Sinha has assumed charge as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi today (Wednesday). The news agency has confirmed the news, replacing Nripendra Mishra as the Principal Secretary.
Pradeep Kumar Sinha was appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the PMO on 30 August 2019. He was appointed to the post following the resignation of Nripendra Mishra. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of PK Sinha. As per the order, from September 11, 2019, he will take over as Principal Advisor to the Prime Minister.
Nripendra Mishra resigned at a time when India's GDP growth fell to a five-year low of over 5% in the June quarter of 2019-20, from 5.8% in the March quarter. Nripendra Mishra was also the Chairman of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, 'After serving the PMO for five years and working diligently, after making an indelible contribution to India's development trajectory, Shri Nripendra Mishra will start a new phase of his life. My best wishes to them for their future endeavors. '
