Navjot Singh Sidhu, the new President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress, is going to take charge today. His coronation will take place at Congress Bhawan, Sector 15, Chandigarh. For this, Sidhu has left his residence in Patiala to come to Chandigarh. His family is also coming with him.
Along with Sidhu, 4 working presidents Sangat Singh Giljian, Sukhwinder Singh Danny, Pawan Goyal, and Kuljit Singh Nagra will also take their responsibility.
Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has accepted Sidhu's invitation letter to attend the function. Congress's Punjab in-charge Harish Rawat has reached Chandigarh to attend the function.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi can also attend. Invitations have also been sent to former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Kuldeep Singh from Himachal, and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot.
Congress ministers, MPs, MLAs, leaders, and workers are reaching Chandigarh to attend the coronation program of Navjot Sidhu as Punjab Pradesh Congress President. In such a situation, strict security arrangements have been made by the Chandigarh Police to ensure that the guests do not face any problems. The police force has been deployed around the Congress building. SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal himself will be present on the spot.
According to CMO sources, Captain Amarinder Singh made it clear in the meeting of senior party leaders that he would not meet him in person till Sidhu apologizes. Tajposhi is a party program. I am a Congressman, so I will go. From this, it can be guessed that there is a possibility of the war between Captain and Sidhu going away, but the Captain is adamant about apologizing.
Before the coronation, the Captain has invited all the MLAs, MPs and big workers except Sidhu for tea at Punjab Bhavan at 10 am on Friday. After this meeting, the Captain and all the MLAs will gather and leave for Sidhu's coronation. On Thursday, the new working president Kuljeet Nagra and Sangat Singh Giljian met Captain and gave him a formal invitation letter for the program. Apart from the four working presidents, Navjot Singh Sidhu also signed this letter.
Navjot Sidhu ignored the orders of the high command even before the state Congress president was crowned. On Thursday, in all the states, the Congress was to hold a memorandum to the governors in the Pegasus case. But no demonstration was held in Punjab. It is said that Sidhu expressed his inability to perform citing busyness.
