In the first six days of the month of September, 2 lakh people have traveled by air daily. In August, 65,26,753 people traveled by air in 57,498 flights in the country.

The aviation industry, which has been sluggish for the last year due to the covid epidemic, is now seen to be back on track once again. In the first six days of the month of September, 2 lakh people have traveled by air daily. Similar figures were seen in the month of August as well. In August, 65,26,753 people traveled by air in 57,498 flights in the country, which is 33 percent more than the number of passengers in the month of July.

After the reduction in the cases of Covid, the central government had announced relaxation in the rules of air travel from August. The relaxation in the rules of travel and the increasing number of passengers is an indication that the government may soon cut airfares. Let us tell you that, on 21 June and 13 August, the government has announced an increase in the fares of domestic flights twice.

What is the airfare rule?

Earlier, the government used to issue circulars for a fixed time and issue instructions to airline companies regarding airfares. The companies had to fix the rent keeping this in mind. After the deadline of the circular was over, the government used issue another circular. However, now from August, these rules have been changed.

In the new circular of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the rule of minimum fare is applicable till the time limit of 30 days. After this, the airline companies are allowed to fix the fare according to their own. Due to this these companies are able to give tickets with discounts and other offers. However, due to the new rule, those companies which used to offer low price tickets till the time of departure are no longer able to do so.

After the 30-day time limit, the fare starts increasing. Airlines are not allowed to sell tickets below this minimum fare till the time of departure. The government needs to end this rule made to give benefits to weak airlines.

Along with this, companies also need to choose the right business model. The model of a maximum passenger with a low fare is more profitable than less passenger with a higher fare.

Airfare is very low after a 30-day window

Air travel tickets are available at a very low cost after the 30-day window. The flight ticket from Mumbai to Delhi, which is currently available for Rs 5,310, is available for Rs 1,937 in the month of October after a window of 30 days. Talking about long-distance flights, the current ticket from Delhi to Kochi is Rs 7,820, while after a window of 30 days it is available for Rs 3,307. The same is the case with Bangalore-Guwahati, Delhi-Chennai, and Bangalore-Lucknow.

The government needs the right plan

To reduce the airfare, the government will have to work under a strict plan. In front of it, there is a need to create a better balance between the pockets of passengers and the profits of airlines. Reducing fares overnight can become a challenge for airlines. For this, he has to work in a time-bound manner.
