Chief Economic Adviser K V Subramaniam Resigns, Will return to Academia

Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, Krishnamurthy Subramaniam has announced his resignation on Friday. However, after the completion of his three-year term, K V Subramaniam has announced his resignation from the post. Also, he has told in an official statement that he has now decided to go back to the education world.

Decision after completing his three-year term

K V Subramaniam said that he has taken this decision after completing his three-year term. However, K V Subramaniam took over the post of Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) of the country on 7 December 2018. Arvind Subramaniam had left this post at that time. After his resignation, the name of the new Chief Economic Adviser has not yet been announced by the government.

Tremendous support from within the government

If we talk about his tenure, K V Subramaniam said that I have received tremendous support from within the government. Also, I have good relations with senior officials. Apart from this, in almost 3 decades of my professional life, I have not yet found a more inspiring leader than Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Also, he said that his understanding of PM Modi's economic policy is much better.

In a resignation statement, K V Subramaniam thanked Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the opportunity. Earlier in his tenure, Subramaniam was a member of the expert committees of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). With brief stints in top corporates including JP Morgan Chase, ICICI Bank, and Tata Consultancy Services, 50-year-old K V Subramaniam is well-versed with the private sector.
