Pfizer, Moderna Refused to Sell Covid Shots Directly to Delhi: CM Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday informed that US pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and Moderna have refused to sell their COVID-19 vaccines directly to the national capital. He added that Pfizer and Moderna have underlined that they will deal with the Central government directly.

During a press brief, Kejriwal said, "We've spoken to Pfizer and Moderna for vaccines, and both the manufacturers have refused to sell vaccines directly to us. They have said they will deal with the central government. We appeal to the centre to import vaccines and distribute to the states."

50 lakhs doses administered in Delhi so far:

According to the official information, over 50 lakh people have received at least one vaccine dose, of which more than 39 lakh people have received the first dose, while over 1.2 million people have received both doses of the vaccine.

Meanwhile, in a letter to PM Narendra Modi, Kejriwal wrote, "The centre should speak to international vaccine manufacturers, buy from them and distribute to states. States and union territories are fighting with each other."

Delhi: 1649 cases reported in the last 24 hours

On Monday, 1649 coronavirus cases reported in the state. Meanwhile, 5,158 people recovered and 189 died. So far, 14.16 lakh people have been infected here. Of these, 13.66 lakh have cured, while 23,202 patients lost their lives. Currently, there are 27,610 patients who are undergoing treatment.

Over 19 crores vaccine doses administered so far:

Meanwhile, mass vaccination against COVID-19 is underway in the country. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, so far 19,60,51,962 people have been vaccinated in the country. Out of this, 9,42,722 vaccines were administered in the last 24 hours.
