Government oil companies have increased the prices of petrol and diesel for the third consecutive day today. On Thursday, petrol in Delhi has become costlier by 52 paise to Rs 90.99 and diesel by 30 paise to Rs 81.42 per liter. The most expensive petrol in the country is being sold in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Petrol here costs Rs 101.85 and diesel Rs 94.05 per liter. There is no hope of relief from their rising prices in the coming days.

Petrol and diesel can be expensive up to 3 rupees in the coming days

Assembly elections were going on in many states of the country for the last two months. Therefore, even after crude oil became expensive last month, there has been no increase in the price of petrol and diesel. However, after crude oil became cheaper, petrol and diesel prices were reduced in four installments. Now the prices of petrol and diesel have started increasing as soon as the elections are over.

In February this year, the price of crude oil was $ 61 per barrel, which came to $ 64.73 in March. Right now it is selling at close to $ 69. In such a situation, the price of petrol diesel may increase further in the coming days. Petrol and diesel prices may increase by 2 to 3 rupees.

60% of the price of petrol is taxed

Central excise and state taxes account for 60% of petrol prices, while in diesel it is 54% (Central excise duty on petrol is Rs 32.90 per liter, while on diesel it is Rs 31.80 per liter. After that the state governments On this, VAT and cess are levied on their own basis, after which their price has increased up to 3 times from the base price.

Oil marketing companies fix petrol and diesel rates daily after reviewing prices. Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum change petrol and diesel rates at 6 am.
