Today once again, the government oil companies have increased the prices of petrol and diesel. Today, petrol in Delhi has become costlier by 24 paise to 92.58 and diesel by 27 paise to Rs 83.22 per liter. Petrol in Rajasthan has crossed Rs 103 per liter. Which is by far the most expensive.
For the last two months, due to the assembly elections in the 5 states of the country, their prices were not increased, but after the results of the elections on May 2, their prices have started increasing again. In the 9 days after the elections, petrol has become costlier by 2.21 rupees and diesel by 2.22 rupees. Petrol-diesel prices have increased 9 times since May 4.
In our country, the base price of petrol and diesel is still close to 33 rupees. But the central and state governments impose tax on it and reach it at 100 rupees. On this, the central government is charging excise duty of Rs 33. After this, the state governments charge VAT and cess on their own, after which their price has increased up to 3 times from the base price. In such a situation, it is not possible to reduce the price of petrol without giving relief in tax.
According to the Indian rupee, the average price per liter of petrol in the world is 84.83 rupees. The cheapest petrol in India is Rs 85.23 in Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Its price in Delhi is 91.80 rupees a liter, which means petrol is costlier than the world average price in India.
