The Patiala House Court has taken the Delhi Police at arms as the court has slammed the Delhi Police for filing the charge sheet without approval.

the case where Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, Anirban were made accused in the case and a 1200 page charge sheet was filed.

The Patiala House Court has said that if the Delhi Police had no approval of the competent authority, then why did they file a charge sheet. The Delhi Police, in response, has said that "will get the sanction approval in 10 days."

Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban remain at standby in the case.

The Delhi Police had on January 14 filed the charge sheet at a city court against Kumar and others, saying he was leading a procession and supported seditious slogans raised on the varsity campus during an event in February 2016.

Police also charged former JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya for allegedly shouting anti-India slogans during the event held on February 9, 2016, to commemorate the hanging of Parliament-attack mastermind Afzal Guru.
