Pakistan is the ‘Most Unworthy’ Country to Criticize India on the Kashmir Issue: Shashi Tharoor

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said on Saturday that Pakistan was the 'most unworthy' country to criticize India on the Kashmir issue, especially given its own record in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. At the Pune International Literature Festival, the Lok Sabha MP from Kerala said that differences between political parties do not matter when it comes to the foreign policy of the country.

Tharoor said, 'I would like to send out an implicit message. We may have differences within the country, but when it comes to the interests of India, then it is not the foreign policy of the BJP or the foreign policy of the Congress. This is India's foreign policy. He said that he has the right to criticize the Central government for the treatment of people and elected representatives of the state on Jammu and Kashmir.

Shashi Tharoor said, 'I will be targeting the government on domestic issues, but when it comes to the international situation, I think Pakistan is most unworthy to condemn India on Kashmir issue. See what he did in Pak Occupied Kashmir. Regarding Narendra Modi, Tharoor said that he should get what a democratically elected prime minister deserves. He said, 'Whether we like his politics or not, he is the democratically elected Prime Minister of the country and when he goes abroad he is the Prime Minister of India and he carries our flag (national flag). I want him to be received and treated with the same respect that the Prime Minister of my country deserves. The Congress MP said that by saying this, he is not only showing respect to the Prime Minister's organization but also paying respect to the Indian voters.
