P. Chidambaram Sent to Tihar Again After Checkup at AIIMS

Former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who is in judicial custody in the INX Media case, was sent to AIIMS for a checkup on Saturday after his health deteriorated, after which he has been remanded to Tihar. Suddenly he had a stomach ache last night.

He was brought to AIIMS from Tihar Jail at around 2.30 PM. He was first seen by doctors in the emergency, after which he is undergoing treatment in room number 13 of the private ward. According to the jail administration, after eating food in the afternoon, he complained of stomach ache.

According to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), he has been investigated several times. He is being treated by the doctors of the Department of Gastrology. Chidambaram already has several diseases. His weight has also reduced in a few days. For this reason, the court had directed the Tihar Jail Administration to treat them at one of the three hospitals, including AIIMS, RML, if required. They are allowed to eat homemade food in the Tihar jail in the afternoon.

P Chidambaram had earlier demanded a Homemade meal from the court, which was accepted by the court. He said that his weight is being reduced by eating jail food. He is not well. Therefore, they should be allowed to eat homemade food. However, the court has allowed them to eat homemade food only once a day.

P Chidambaram is accused of misusing his position when he was the Finance Minister while the Congress was in power. This is in the year 2007. They are accused of taking bribes and getting the approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board to take crores of rupees to INEX Media. After the revelation, several agencies like IDI and CBI are investigating the matter. Last year itself, the CBI registered an FIR.
