The monsoon session of the Parliament is scheduled to begin on 14 September. The elections are to be held for the post of Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha on the first day of the session and opposition parties are planning to field DMK MP Tiruchi Siva as their candidate.
The nomination deadline is September 11. MP Shiva has been elected to the Rajya Sabha four times. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1996 from Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu.
Let us tell you that Shiva will arrive in Delhi on 10 September. After this, a final decision will be taken regarding his candidature. The name of the candidate has not been announced by the NDA so far, but it is expected that JDU member Harivansh Narayan Singh may be the candidate for the post again.
