OnePlus 7T Review: Best Android Smartphone in Segment

OnePlus 7T is a smartphone that you may get used to after using it for a few months. Despite this, there are some drawbacks in its phone. Why are we saying this you can read in the further review.
OnePlus 7T Review: Best Android Smartphone in Segment

OnePlus 7T has recently been launched in India. The 90Hz display refresh rate is now standard for the company, just like it is the standard for companies nowadays. This smartphone has Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor and many other high end specifications.

OnePlus 7T can be seen as an upgrade of OnePlus 7. But this is not a common upgrade, but has changed from its old variant in almost every respect. After using this smartphone for some time, it seems that the company has tried its best to make it a perfect smartphone.

The best thing about this smartphone is that it was launched first in India and the price is also good according to the customers here. Good means aggressive. The price of this smartphone has been kept absolutely right. At this price, you cannot buy a smartphone with a 90Hz refresh rate display and Snapdragon 855+ processor.

Design and Build Quality

The build quality of OnePlus 7T is quite good. Frosted glass has been used to prepare the rear panel. The rear panel of the phone is not much fingerprint magnets. There is a circular camera module in the rear of the phone which is slightly larger. It could have been shortened further. You get three cameras in this camera ring and a dual LED flash is given below it. The rear panel of the phone is curved. The gorilla glass is sandwich design and the frame is of shiny metal. The frosted curved back looks great.

OnePlus 7T feels compact to hold and is a completely premium phone. Our experience of using without cover has been very good. However, if the phone has a slip, then you use it carefully or it can be slip by hand. At the bottom of the phone there is a speaker grill and SIM card tray with USB Type C port. There is a power button on the right and above this is the signature of the company, so that you can use for silent, vibrate and ring.

OnePlus 7T does not have a headphone jack and the display has a water drop style notch and is quite small. The earpiece is placed just above it. On the edges of the phone, your antenna lines will be seen, which the company could make it even more beautiful by being hidden. Bezels are at least given in the display.

Display

OnePlus 7T has a 6.55-inch 90Hz AMOLED display. Aspect ratio is 20: 9. The display supports HDR10 and has 403ppi. In the display itself you get the under display fingerprint scanner which is at the bottom.

The display is bright, colorful and is great to use. There is a bit of dilation in daylight, but still you can watch and read the content without any hassle. You get addicted to the 90Hz display and after that you will use another smartphone which does not have a 90Hz refresh rate, then you will feel a bit strange. Even if the smartphone is fast or the performance is strong, but you will definitely miss it.

There are thin bezels around the display, but due to the thinner chin, this ratio is good. The water drop style notch has been given at the top. Our experience of this smartphone regarding overall display has been fantastic.

Performance

OnePlus 7T has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, which is currently Qualcomm's flagship chipset. After using more than a week, it can be said that OnePlus 7T is the fastest smartphone in this segment. It has been used as a primary smartphone and during this time neither felt any lag nor there was a problem of hanging in the phone.

On this smartphone, I have played games like Call of duty: Mobile to PUBG Mobile. There is no problem even by filling the settings. Not only this, you will also get the benefit of 90Hz refresh rate during gaming. The phone does not heat up. During gaming, you can use the app in the background by stopping the game. The phone is capable of heavy multi tasking and switching apps is like breezes.

Older applications do not take much time to load. Internet browsing, watching videos, from photographing to charging, this smartphone is tremendous.

The under display fingerprint scanner looks quite improvised. Now it is faster than before. It is interesting that this time the company has also made Face Unlock better and faster. If you have set up Face Unlock, then you will probably need to use an under display fingerprint scanner. Face unlock angle is also fine. However, Face Unlock is not as secure as iPhone and Pixel, as this front camera is based.

Software

OnePlus 7T has Android 10 based Oxygen OS 10. This is one of the first smartphones that have Android 10. The company has done a lot of tweaks in the software this time. Navigation gesture support is finally stable in any Android smartphone and now you can use gesture based navigation only by removing the software based navigation key. At the time of phone setup, you will be told about navigation gestures.

Dark mode is fantastic and I have used this smartphone for a long time only on dark mode. The software has been simplified and many options to customize are given. With the time given in this software, you will like it even more.

Camera

OnePlus 7T has a triple rear camera, which the company has placed in the circular module for the first time. The three cameras are in a line and below them are dual LED flash. The primary lens is 48 megapixels, the second 12 megapixel telephoto, while the third lens is 16 megapixels and it is ultra wide.

The camera is good, but cannot say the best. Because the flagships of other companies are giving better cameras than this. However, looking at its price, the camera of the phone is good in this regard. Macro mode greatly affects it. With this, you can take a great picture of the smallest object and you will also get the details. We have included this photo in this review for an example of macro mode. Seeing this, you can understand the macro mode of this phone better.

The camera works well in low light and is much improved from the previous variants. For this, you can use Nightscape mode from the camera interface. Portrait mode is also not the best, but it is definitely so good that you get a picture worth posting on social media. Wide angle shots are good. Video recording is stable. In this, the company has also given electronic image stabilization along with optical image stabilization.

Overall, its trip camera module affects and clicks good pictures, records videos well and is great in macro or night mode. In terms of segment, it can be called a good camera phone, but not the best.

Battery

OnePlus 7T has a 3,800mAh battery. The company has been given a new Warp Charging 30T with it. The phone is very fast charged. This is its second feature after the 90Hz refresh rate, which you will miss after switching to another smartphone. In 5 to 7 minutes, the phone will be so charged that you can use it for a few hours. In half an hour, this phone gets charged more than half. The overall battery backup of the phone could have been better than this, or if the company had given a little more powerful battery in it, it would have been better.

In mixed use, the phone gives a full day of backup. However, by going into the display settings, you can get a slightly higher backup by reducing the refresh rate from 90Hz.

From 9 am, you leave the house after charging it full. Social media, YouTube, songs, gaming and Netflix are all things you can use throughout the day. But when you reach home in the evening, the battery will be almost exhausted and you will have to charge it. To use heavy, you will need to carry a power bank or charger, which is with almost all smartphones.

To Buy or to Not to Buy this Smartphone: Review
