‘One Nation-One Ration Card’ Scheme will be Implemented Countrywide by June: Ram Vilas Paswan

The scheme of 'One Nation-One Ration Card' will be implemented by June in all the states of the country except in some states of the North East. The scheme has been started in 12 states of the country. Union Food and Consumer Minister Ram Vilas Paswan gave this information in Parliament on Friday. He said that the remaining states have also been given time till June 2020. So far Paswan has not started this scheme in big states like Bihar, Odisha. All these states have been asked to link ration cards to Aadhaar and equip all ration shops with POS machines by June. Paswan said that these states are fast in completing this work.

According to the Union Minister, in the event of completion of the work before the deadline, the scheme will be implemented in the concerned state. He also clarified the situation regarding the DBT scheme. He said that the scheme has been started as a pilot project in Puducherry and Chandigarh, the urban areas of Dadar and Nagar Haveli. Paswan said that this plan is not being successful. He said that the state governments will have to prepare for this plan.

Under the 'One Nation One Ration Card Scheme', PDS holders across the country will be able to get their share of ration from the shops of the Public Distribution System in any corner of the country. After this, people moving from one place to another due to jobs or other reasons will not be deprived of subsidized rations. Also, this change will eliminate the possibility of having more than one card.
