With an aim to vaccinate people above 18 years of age at the earliest, the Union Health Ministry has now decided to enable the facility of on-site registration on CoWIN digital platform. However, this facility will be available only at government COVID vaccination centers (CVCs).
Meanwhile, states and UTs must decide on enabling of on-site registrations and appointments for 18-44 years age group based on the local context just as an additional step to minimize vaccine wastage.
Along with this, the Ministry has advised the States and Union Territories that utmost care should be taken while opening on-site registration and appointment for the age group of 18-44 years to avoid overcrowding at the vaccination centers. At the same time, the health ministry in a statement, said, "Therefore, the feature for on-site registration and appointment is now being enabled for the 18-44 years age group on CoWIN."
Meanwhile, mass vaccination against COVID-19 is underway in the country. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, so far 19,60,51,962 people have been vaccinated in the country. Out of this, 9,42,722 vaccines administered in the last 24 hours.
India has been witnessing a gradual decrease in daily coronavirus cases. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, India reported 2,22,315 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative count of the cases to 2,67,52,447. With 4,454 deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has increased to 3,03,720. The country also witnessed 3,02,544 recoveries in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative recoveries to 2,37,28,011. With this, the country's recovery rate has increased to 88.69%.
