Along with food, the facility of filling petrol and diesel will also be available at the small dhabas built on the National Highway. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said he has asked the officials of his ministry to work on a proposal to allow small dhaba owners to build petrol pumps and toilets along the National Highway.
Speaking at an event, the minister said that someone sent him an SMS in which he had written that he was travelling and there was not a single toilet in the 200-300 km road.
Gadkari said people are encroaching on roadside lands, opening dhabas which create a nuisance as truck drivers park their trucks on the road.
He then suggested to his officials that the ministry could work on a proposal to open petrol pumps with space to park 5-10 vehicles to small dhaba owners and maintain toilets for the general public.
Minister said I told officials that just as NHAI gives NOC for petrol pumps, we should also consider giving authorized approval to small dhaba owners to build petrol pumps and toilets along the highways.
The Union Minister said that the process of land acquisition for the construction of roads has accelerated significantly due to the continuous monitoring of progress maintained by his ministry. He told that he has also increased the amount of compensation for the acquisition of land for the construction of roads.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari have emphasized reducing dependence on imports while advocating green hydrogen as a transportation fuel.
Gadkari said that there is a need to make India a country that is not dependent on the import of petrol and diesel.
The minister said green hydrogen is better than petrol and diesel. A big change is taking place in the transport sector. He said, we want to make India a country which is not dependent on import of petrol and diesel, but exports fuel.
