Before Diwali, the liquor of famous foreign brands is going to become cheaper in Delhi. Some of the prices are going to decrease by up to one thousand rupees due to lower base price by the importers. Brands that will reduce prices include Chivas Regal, Ballantine Finest and Absolut Vodka etc. The remaining few companies will also announce their new prices soon.
New stock in three to four days-
The new stock with reduced prices will arrive in the market in three to four days. Apart from the brands mentioned above, other companies like Johnny Walker, Black label are also going to announce new prices soon. The reduction in prices has become possible due to the new clause in Delhi's Excise Policy. It came into effect on 16 August.
There was a lot of difference in prices-
Branded liquor was expensive in Delhi due to high base rate. Compared to Haryana, Black Label (750 ml) which is 2300 in Gurgaon is available for Rs 3900 in Delhi. Like this, there is a difference of about Rs 1400 in the prices of Chivas Regal.
How did the rate decreased-
Excise officer said that till now importers used to keep the base price of famous brands higher in Delhi. Because excise taxes and other taxes are added at the base price, due to this the liquor itself became expensive in retail. Liquor importers have to register their brands every year. In such a situation, the Delhi Excise Department has signed such an affidavit that they will keep the base price of Delhi as much as the other states. Because of this, now the rates will come down.
