Now Flipkart will Sell Vegetables Online, Starting its Pilot Project

Indian e-commerce company Flipkart is now preparing to sell vegetables in India. The company has started a pilot project to deliver door to door vegetables. Under this, the company will sell fresh fruits and vegetables.

According to an ET report, the company will be partnered with vendors at its market place for Flipkart vegetable delivery. Significantly, the American company Walmart has been acquired by Flipkart.

In an ET report, Flipkart's official was quoted as saying that the license application is in process. The company currently has a partnership with Vecool Food and Products. It has also been said that the company was not yet in this segment due to the complexity in supply chains and regulatory complexes in fresh fruits and vegetable space.

It is worth noting that Amazon delivers fresh fruits and vegetables under Amazon Fresh service at select locations in India. According to ET's report, Flipkart has said that grocery is one of the main categories for the company. This pilot project being launched in Hyderabad will serve to create a better understanding of the consumer behavior and supply chain that we are developing for the demand for this category.

It is obvious that after the online food in India, now the market of online vegetables and fruits is growing rapidly and in this segment, the company will have to compete with the Big Basket. Flipkart has not yet clarified how long the final product will be launched.
