Till now you must have seen the automatic ticket vending machine at the railway stations, but now the railway has moved a step ahead towards the Automated Ticket Checking & Managing Access machine.
It has also been experimentally installed at Nagpur railway station of Central Railway. If this experiment is successful, it will also be installed at other railway stations. Railway officials say that this will not only complete ticket checking but will also help in preventing the spread of Covid-19 as it also checks the temperature of the passenger.
The automatic ticket checking machine installed at Nagpur railway station will also help in preventing the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemic. The machine installed under the Central Railway's New and Innovative Idea and Concept for Generation of Non-Fair Revenue Idea Scheme (NINFRIS) policy will not only check the ticket, but also check the body temperature and ensure passengers not wearing face masks in the station, will prevent you from entering.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has tweeted about this railway's first automatic ticket checking machine. Railway officials say that "this ATMA machine has been installed under the NINFRIS scheme".
A major benefit of this Automated Ticket Checking & Managing Access machine will be that the staff involved in ticket checking will be reduced. Till now, the staffs who were working as ticket checkers can be used somewhere else in station.
Officials say that this machine will conduct contactless screening under social distancing, following the boarding guidelines. Through this machine, only those passengers who have a valid ID will be able to get admission. The machine will check the ID. Also, the PNR number of the reserve ticket will also be checked.
This machine may be automatic, but its command will remain with the railway staff.
That staff will be sitting in the cabin next to the machine and he will give necessary directions to this machine from time to time.
Automatic ticket vending machines have already started cutting tickets. With the help of this machine, general or unreserved tickets are being cut. For this, cash or railway smart card is used.
