NITs Established in 2009 Will Now Be Fully Functional from their Permanent Campuses

NIT (National Institute of Technology), established in 2009, will now operate from permanent campuses. It was decided in the Union Cabinet meeting. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar gave this information. Giving this information, he said that the NIT set up in the year 2009 started functioning from 2010-2011 with limited space and infrastructure in their respective temporary premises. These will be fully functional from the permanent campuses related to 31 March to 2022.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the Union Cabinet has approved the new Revised Cost Estimate for construction of Permanent Campuses of National Institutes of Technology (NITs) for a period up to 2021-2022 at a total cost of Rs 4371.90 crore.

Earlier, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said that it has been decided to nominate Daman as the headquarters of Union Territories of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The Cabinet has approved the amendment / extension / revocation of Goods and Services Tax Value Added Tax and Excise Duty in view of the merger of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

According to Javadekar to examine the issue of sub-classification within the Other Backward Classes in the Central List, the Union Cabinet has approved the extension of tenure of the Commission constituted under Article 340 of the Constitution. The tenure has been extended by 6 months to 31 July 2020.
